‘Found’ Mtsvane 2022

£9.00, 13.5%, Marks & Spencer, Georgia

I was delighted to see M&S celebrating a little known grape from Georgia, one of the oldest wine producing countries in the world.  It took me a while to get round the pronunciation of the grape, but it’s well worth it, simply for the pure delightfulness of this zesty, crisp white.

Produced from the Mtsvane Kakhuri grape, from a single vineyard on the banks of the Alazani river, in north eastern Georgia, the grapes are picked before dawn to preserve their freshness and crisp acidity. It’s soared right up there with my other favourites from the faultless ‘Found’ range.

Bursting with vibrant wafts of sage, tarragon and mint, overlaid with crisp citrus and green apple, the aromas are incredibly fragrant. The flavour is similarly intriguing, ripe and surprisingly full and creamy, with soft, rounded orchard fruit, and a super crisp refreshing bite on the finish.

I tried this with seabass baked with lemon and fresh herbs, and also tarragon and mascarpone stuffed chicken breasts, but it’s depth and brightness would make it a good match for gently spiced vietnamese salads, laksas, and pad thai.
